“I had a great experience at First Step. The counselors were very knowledgeable and cared genuinely about our well-being. Even the people at the front desk were extremely kind. I loved every person that I met during group and plan to keep in touch with many of them. It is a great program for people struggling with addiction.” – Anonymous Raleigh NC First Step Services substance abuse outpatient treatment client’s comments

IOP is proven to be a successful alternative to inpatient or residential treatment. When inpatient treatment is necessary, continuing treatment by attending IOP upon returning home creates the best outcomes for those patients. IOP participants live at home, continue with work or education as normal, and lead an otherwise normal lifestyle. IOP is cheaper than inpatient or residential treatment.

“The First Step treatment process has turned my life around completely. I am no longer abusing drugs or alcohol and have been sober for over 30 days now. Now that I’m sober, I feel way more productive and energized. While attending groups over the past month I have learned that it’s okay to express your feelings with methods other than drugs and alcohol. Overall, this was an outstanding experience and has directly impacted my life. Thank you.”

“The groups were very informative and thought-provoking. I had over 20 years sobriety prior to my relapse. I had gotten a little ‘stale’. After that much sober time I have heard that a lot of people don’t make it back. First Step cares a lot and have a lot of wisdom regarding sobriety. First Step is great at ‘drawing’ people out into discussion and continuing that dialogue. There was a lot of good information presented in the group that I had not seen.”

“I came to First Step to get better and to learn how to cope with everyday life without alcohol and in coming to First Step I was able to learn was to make alcohol a thing of the past. By changing my life, such as my friends I surround myself with and the way I live my life. I was able to cope by not doing some of the things that brought me to alcohol and I learned to establish a hobby and to pay more attention to myself and others and to be more understanding. I have much knowledge from the group by listening to others and taking what they had to offer and applying it to my life. I would highly recommend First Step to others that need help. It is a good program and very knowledgeable.” Anonymous substance abuse intensive outpatient treatment client’s comments
