First Step Services of North Carolina staff is passionate about helping individuals seeking alcohol and drug use counseling. To assist in the journey to recovery, our team of masters-level licensed and certified substance abuse counselors provides a variety of outpatient services.
Programs at First Step include Substance Use Disorder Intensive Outpatient treatment, early intervention counseling and education groups, individual, group, and family counseling to supporting people returning home from inpatient, residential, and hospital programs.
Our specialized programs meet most alcohol and drug use in outpatient treatment needs. Our patients are referred by families, friends, co-workers, attorneys, hospitals, inpatient treatment centers, MAT clinics, and many other sources. Other patients refer to themselves. We accept clients referred by clinics providing Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT) such as suboxone. First Step’s Medical assists clients who have dual disorder needs – mental health and substance use. First Step’s goal is to assist all our clients to achieve a future free from problems related to substance use.
First Step Services is in-network with all major insurance companies to assist in covering the cost of substance abuse intensive outpatient treatment and 3-hour groups of general outpatient counseling. Call us if you have any questions.
First Step Raleigh Services & Schedules
We offer individual mental health, substance use & family counseling. We offer substance use & DWI assessments. We are also in-network with health insurance companies to cover the cost of our group program services. We do the billing, saving you time and money. In most cases, all you pay is your copay or deductibles.
Recovery in Action IOP
Utilizes the stages of change model to focus on recovery protection & healthy coping skills. We use a wellness model centered on self-care, problem-solving & life skills that can be applied to daily life.

Creating Focus IOP
Focuses on stages of change & value-based decision-making skills. We provide education on the disease model of addiction and look at how we can create a focus in our lives.

Shifting Perspectives
This 2-hour group focuses on harm reduction. It focuses on building insight into the risks associated with one’s substance use choices.

Utilizes Prime for Life curriculum. Designed to gently, but powerfully challenge common beliefs & attitudes that directly contribute to high-risk alcohol and drug use.

Inpatient, Residential & Hospital Aftercare
First Step Services, LLC provides Intensive Outpatient and General Outpatient aftercare for people returning home from inpatient programs & hospitals across the country. The goal is to provide people returning home with continued treatment and recovery while they transition home returning to work, families and resuming a “normal” lifestyle after inpatient or hospitalization.
