“I was brought to First Step for legal strategy to help with my DWI ticket. I haven’t been convicted yet and my lawyer believed if I had completed this program prior to court that it may help. I did not know what to expect to get out of group. I thought that I would sit here for three hours each night and count the minutes until time was up. I was pleasantly surprised that group was very interactive and enjoyable. I learned that I am not alone in the way I feel about particular situations when I thought I was the only one that suffers. The smallest thing triggers my anxiety which makes it difficult to cope. I learned many tools to help me take a step back, consciously think before reacting and it helps me cope better.”
