I was brought to First Step for a DWI on March 31, 2019. I was irritated that I had to take group sessions when I didn’t believe I has a drinking problem. However, as group progressed I started learning a lot about myself and the damage drinking has caused in my life and others lives. One decision changed the next year and a half of my life and will now mold my decisions for the rest of my life. I learned that no one is perfect, but it is key to make low-risk decisions. If you want to play, play by the rules. If you can’t play by the rules, don’t play at all. Remaining sober during treatment made me realize how much I was drinking when I thought I wasn’t it also brought new hobbies and people in my life which I am forever grateful for.
